JIM STAPLETON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

James B. "Jim" Stapleton, Jr., is a native of Atlanta, Georgia.  Commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry upon his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N. Y., Jim’s career was concentrated in operations and command. At the time of his retirement from active duty as a Colonel, he was serving as Deputy Commander and Chief-of-Staff of the Task Force conducting Operation Provide Comfort protecting the Kurds in Northern Iraq.

In 1994, he joined the 1996 Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games as the Director of Logistics for the Olympic Village, residence for 7,500 Athletes and Officials, and was responsible for the planning and execution of all temporary construction, move in/out of rooms and offices, the installation of all video, voice and data networks, and the contract management with all vendors and services.  Upon the successful completion of the Games, Jim joined National Service Industries, headquartered in Atlanta, for five years as the Vice President and Area Manager for the National Linen Service Plant in Atlanta, the largest linen processing plant in the company.  In 2001, Jim joined Allied Automotive Group as the Regional Vice President for 27 terminals in the South Southwest Region.  In2004, Jim served as the Director of the Georgia Business Force for the non-profit organization, Business Executives for National Security, assisting the state in combating bioterrorist attacks. In 2005, Jim went to Iraq with KBR as the Chief of Staff for LOGCAP III providing all the logistics support for the US Armed Forces in the Middle East and Central Asia.  In 2007, Jim went to Washington, DC to serve as the COO for Eclolg USA, a German based company providing contingency logistics support in Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa. In August, 2008, Jim returned to Atlanta to join the National Museum of Patriotism as the Executive Director.

Jim is very active in Atlanta and has served on numerous boards: West Pont Society of Atlanta; Veterans Opportunity and Resource Center, Inc.; Army War College Foundation; Atlanta Community Food Bank; Arthritis Foundation Fund Raiser; Atlanta Restaurant Council; Mayor’s Community Relations Council.  His professional organizations include the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association and the West Point Society of Atlanta. He is an Usher and Scripture Group Leader at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He is a life member of MOAA (The Retired Officers Association) and the Army War College Foundation.  Additionally, Jim served as the Assistant Sergeant at Arms for the 2004 Republican National Convention at Madison Square Garden.

Jim and his wife Carolyn are the proud parents of two grown daughters and seven grandchildren.
